Nice to meet you

Hey!

I’m Coach Anton

If you are looking to learn about healthy aging, preventitive medicine and active, healthy lifestyle, then I'm your guy!

On an average day I get to wear many hats: I’m a Personal Trainer, Nutritional Coach, Behavioural Change Specialist, Environment “Engineer” and all out fitness nerd. I live in Toronto, with my amazing girlfriend who challenges me to be the best version. In my off time I read, craft, run, game and fall in love with some new series.

And I’m not JUST a Trainer

I found my calling in the fitness industry and have been working professionally since 2013. Although it wasn’t my first choice, I genuinely feel that the office experience offered me a deeper appreciation of the demands that office workers face every day.

My holistic, out-of-the-box approach better matches a profile of a Health Case Manager or a Lifestyle Coach. Although the movement is and always will occupy the center stage, my sessions always include a healthy dose of a mental tune-up and friendly banter.

My 4 Health Pillar system focuses on the whole person, frequently asking important questions others tend to overlook.

I help as many Life Athletes as possible to achieve the highest quality of life NOW and only continue to improve with every passing year.

I worked for a big-box gym for over 6 years, performing hundreds of fitness assessments, personally training tens of clients, and managing a team of trainers. After being bogged down, I could no longer deny that the system was rigged.

I started Absolute Performance Fitness in 2019 for two reasons:

  • I saw firsthand how badly big-box gyms are failing you. The medical and education system aren’t helping either; and
  • Secondly, I noticed that aging nowadays is synonymous with slowing down, losing mobility and strength, becoming sick and dependent. The expectations for the later years of life are far from glamorous and I want a long and active life for myself and people around me.

My Values

Make the world a better place one person and one family at a time.

Hard work and consistent effort are the keys to success not just in fitness, but in life. What we earned, we appreciate.

An impossible becomes possible when it is done.

There is no solution that works for everyone as effectively. Pick the right “medicine”, and apply it at the right time and in the right dose for the best possible effect.

"What you think, you become.
What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create."

Professional Profile

How I got here (long story)

Growing up in a military family in the ’80s and ’90s in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet environment meant that physicality is not just encouraged; it is expected. So climbing trees, exploring puddles, and playing with knives was integral to growing up. I remember as a kid hiking many kilometers in the middle of the night with my grandfather. He taught me fishing, building fire, tying knots, and, of course, a “no-complaint” attitude.

My first exposure to organized sports came with Karate in the first grade. Although that didn’t last long, it came with hard work, discipline, and striving to improve. The honesty and directness which inevitably come through a martial art is something that I keep to this day.

Being one of the smallest kids in the class and moving around frequently also meant that I got picked on and was in numerous fights every year. Fortunately, in the 6th grade, in addition to my intellectual abilities, I finally began to show progress in sports and athletics specifically. This led to a sprinting team, running 100 and 400m.

Despite a severe lack of organization, practice, training space, or equipment, all movements came easy. And in grade 9, I finally solidified my athletic achievements by winning a medal in broad jumping. This helped shoe me in for multidisciplinary “military games” for our school.

The two years after immigration to Canada were filled with sports. As I graduated high school back home and only had English to catch up with, I knew I needed a camaraderie that only a team sport would bring, so I joined our school soccer team. The following year we managed to take Northern Region Championship.

Although sports were my constant companion throughout high school, I dreamed of becoming a lawyer as a kid. With that, I applied and graduated from a law clerk program, allowing me to learn more about the profession and test if I wanted to do it as a career.

Within the first year, I noticed the changes the sedentary lifestyle brought – weight gain, drop in energy, and overall mental fatigue. Even vacation didn’t make things better for long. I knew something was off, yet I allowed things to keep deteriorating. I was in my mid-20’s; what could go wrong?!

At the same time, my grandmother fought her losing battle with cancer. Now, as a fitness professional, I know that there was so much more that we could have done to skew the chances in her favor.

4 years into my job, I learned that the legal world wasn’t exactly for me; I decided to go to university and earn a Bachelor’s degree. The practical side of me chose to go for Business Management. It wasn’t until a life-changing backpacking trip through Europe after graduation that I realized that I traded an office job for an office job potential.

I knew that my physical side would never be happy in the office space, so I decided to try my hand at training. Because I never had a great coach, I want to be that guiding force, a life-changing experience for people who struggle with their health due to the office lifestyle. And it truly is a lifestyle.

I was fortunate to have met amazing people who became my clients, including several executives. Some of these early clients allowed me to help them navigate their fitness journey and grow in my skill. Many to this day are my friends.

Being naturally competitive, I set my sights on becoming a fitness manager. Which meant I would have to supervise a team of trainers to deliver my vision of health. I recognized that to be of best service to them, I had to catch up on my fitness, wellness, health, and nutritional knowledge fast. I dedicated the following 2 years to that mission, taking over 30 professional certifications and reading volumes of books.

The more versatile I got, the more I realized that the strict model of workouts alone that the big-box gym was pushing didn’t work for everyone. What was even more frustrating, some clients only got worse in an effort to change their life. I knew that I could not stay in that environment. Contradictions were just too apparent.

I realized that fitness is longevity, strength, youthfulness, fun, and high quality of life. And I want to share this gift far and wide.

And so, in 2019, equipped with the neuro-centric, and behaviour-driven health model, I decided to go on my own and create Absolute Performance Fitness. All the lessons I’ve learned, courses I took, and clients I helped allowed me to formulate a training philosophy that places you, a Life Athlete, in the center of the process. Our job is to help you navigate challenges, and create a supportive environment, which improves your health and longevity.
